A visitor, a visitor! Coming all the way to visit me up this cold and frosty mountain! What a pleasant surprise!
The second part to my two-part artwork where Metalhead makes the effort to visit a lonely snow bird up a cold and frosty mountain! There’s always this warm fuzzy feeling inside when someone makes a sincere effort to visit despite a long difficult journey. Its what I hope to capture in this artwork!
It reminds me of times when I would meet up with friends who are living abroad and how the journey would be long and clouded by travel fatigue. But of course, all of this melts away as soon as I see them!
Now that the snowstorm has cleared, Metalhead and Birb can truly catch up!
A Comparison
Most of the time was spent on touching up the colours and texture to give this artwork more pop! Occasionally the linework can get in the way especially when your two subject matters have a huge size difference. Drawing Metalhead in comparison to Birb makes it quite difficult to control the lines and the chances Metalhead would look like a mass of lines would be quite likely.
As most of the composition was taken up by Birb, I had to look into an alternative way to highlight the two characters which will be discussed further in the paid subscriber section.
Work-in-progress!
I have had my eye on re-working on Metalhead’s ‘Dune Dancers’ for quite a long time. It was one of the series that I did not feel entirely satisfied with the overall outcome and it’s about time for me to re-visit the series! I am very sure there is lots to share as well. The first of the artwork for this is Herd Watching!
Other thoughts?
I’m always open to hear more about what you would love to see over in my Substack. There’s always room for improvements and experimentation as I navigate this writing space. Don’t be shy, let me know and we will see what works!
